Education Dept official held for forgery

Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, Apr 29: Police have arrested a senior official of the State Education Department in connection with issuing fake transfer orders to nine teachers of this district.

Police sources said here today Gurushanmugam, the Assistant Elementary Education Officer (AEEO) in Natham Taluk here was arrested on the charges of forging the signature of Former Director of State Education Department and issuing fake transfer orders to the teachers.

Police are on the look out for Thamilarasi, a computer operator in the Office of Elementary Education, who was also allegedly involved in the racket with the connivance of the AEEO and one Suresh Kumar, a ruling DMK functionary running a travel agency, in this connection. They had collected Rs 50,000 from the teachers for issuing the fake transfer orders, police added.
