Distribution of T-shirts

Mysore, Apr 29 (UNI) As per direction from the Election Commission of India, the Deputy Commissioner Manivannan, who is also District Electoral Officer, has banned distribution of T-shirts and caps with party symbol during the elections in the District.

Orders to this effect were issued to all the concerned officials to strictly implement the direction of EC, Deputy Director of Information Prakash told newsmen here today.

He said that the District Election Office has also adopted a new device to check the decibel levels of loud speakers, more particularly in the residential areas for any violation of prescribed norms, event it would attract penal under section 32 of the Representation of People Act 1950, besides the matter would be reported to the Election Commission of India.

Mr Prakash said that with the addition of 19,700 voters in the District the total number of voters has increased to 20,74,061 from all the 11 constituencies.
