Swamy moves SC to make Baalu a party in Sethusamudram project
New Delhi, Apr 28 (UNI) Former Union Minister and Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy today moved an application in the Supreme Court for making Union Shipping and Transport Minister T R Baalu a party in Sethusamudram project case.
Dr Swamy in his application filed in the Supreme Court has levelled serious allegations against the Minister alleging that Mr Baalu and his family members had vested interests in the project which has become the bone of contention between the UPA and NDA because of the proposed demolition of Ram Setu also known as Adam's Bridge.
According to Dr Swamy, Mr Baalu has two sons and one of his two wives has huge financial interest in M/S Meenam Fisheries Public Limited of which his son is the Chairman and other family members are the Directors.
Dr Swamy has also claimed that he has sufficient evidence in his possession to convince the court that Mr Baalu has gone out of way to push through the controversial project as he and his family members will be benefited with the completion of the project.
Dr Swamy has claimed that Mr Baalu is an extremely rich man and he and his family members have acquired huge assets, disproportionate to his known sources of income, by misusing his official status as Union Minister.
The lengthy and detailed application had given details of T R Baalu and his family members' vested interest in several companies owned and controlled by Mr Baalu's family members, relatives and friends.
Dr Swamy has prayed to the apex court to permit him to array Mr Baalu as respondent No 6 in his petition as the DMK leader is a proper and necessary party in the case.
The application is likely to come up for hearing on Wednesday.
