SAD activist attempts suicide on denial of ticket

Sangrur, Apr 28 (UNI) Apparently disappointed by denial of the Akali Dal (B) ticket for the forthcoming Zila Parishad polls, a party activist in Lehragaga in this district consumed poison, police today said.

According to police sources, Achru Ram, in his statement said he was confident that he would be given the ticket but after the party decided not to field him, he took poison.

Achru Ram, who had consumed poison pills at the market place after making his disappointment public, was rushed to the Sunam Civil hospital, where his life was saved.

However, police have registered a case under section 309 of the IPC for attempt to suicide against him.

He has been put under arrest while being treated at the hospital.
