Call for ban on online trade in gold, silver

Tiruchirapalli, Apr 28: Members of the the Tiruchirapalli unit of the Tamil Nadu Viswaharma Handicraft Artistes Association (TNVHAA)and Tiruchi Sharaff and Jewellers Association (TSAJA)observed a day's fast here today demanding the Union Government ban online trade of gold and silver immediately.

In a statement here today, Mr Krishnan Secretary of the TNVHAA and TSAJA Secretaries N Chandrasekaran and Mothi R Dhantayutham said the agitation was part of the state-wide stir in support of which most of the jewellery shops in and around Tiruchirapalli were closed today Online trading led to rise in prices of silver and gold day-by-day resulting in the poor and the middle class not being in a position to even think of the precious ornaments. Hence, it was high time for the governments to ban online trading.
