Woman commits suicide, parents allege dowry harrassment

Ambala, Apr 27 (UNI) A woman allegedly committed suicide in today by pouring kerosene oil and setting herself ablaze in her residence at Naya Baans Mohalla here, police said.

The deceased, Deepali's father Pawan Chadha alleged that his daughter was compelled to end her life since she was continuously harassed and tortured for dowry after marriage.

The Police has registered case against Deepali's husband Ashwini and his parents under section 198 IPC. The couple had a four-year-old daughter.

The dead body was sent to the civil hospital for postmortem. Both the families quarreled with each other at the Police station but were pacified by the Police.

The Police recovered a suicide note but the parents of Deepali alleged that it was a counterfeit document prepared by her in-laws to hide the crime they had committed.
