TTD to award scholarships to best students
Tirumala, Apr 27 (UNI) Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) board meeting today decided to award Rs 300 per month as scholarship to the best 1,000 students studying in the non-residential schools at Municipal, Zilla Pharishad and government schools in the state.
Addressing mediapersons, after a board meeting, trust board Chairman B Karunakara Reddy said the scholarship would be provided to the BPL students, who will secure the highest marks and would be paid every month under the TTD-run Vidyadhana Trust.
TTD employees' children, who were doing MBBS and BDS would be provided Rs 55,000 and Rs 40,000, respectively, he said, and added that it had also decided to start a Junior College exclusively for the deaf students in SVTCH building in Tirupati.
The meeting resolved to award a five gram gold dollar of Lord of Seven Hills as an incentive, with a merit certificate, to the toppers of each TTD-run deaf school every year.
It also decided to regularise the services of 22 veda pandits working in Sri Venkateswara Veda Vidyalayam in Tirumala, he added.
Earlier, the Chairman and TTD Executive Officer K V Ramanachary released 'Saptagiri Sankeertans', an audio CD composed in connection with 600th Jayanthi celebrations of the Talapaka Annamacharya.
