TRS urges Telangana people to defeat TDP, Cong candidates
Hyderabad, Apr 27 (UNI) Telangana Rashtriya Samiti (TRS) President K Chandrasekhara Rao today urged the Telangana people to teach the TDP and Congress a lesson, by defeating their candidates in the by election scheduled to be held on May 29, in 17 Assembly constituencies and four Lok Sabha seats in this region.
Addressing a public meeting on the occasion of TRS eighth Foundation Day celebrations at parade grounds here, Mr Rao said ''the TDP and Congress conspired to defeat the TRS by forging an 'un-official' alliance in the bypoll.
''We should teach a lesson to both the parties by defeating their candidates. The TDP and Congress should loose their deposits in the election,'' he said, adding that the TRS would continue the Telangana movement in a peaceful manner.
Calling upon the Telangana people to 're-dedicate' themselves for the cause of Telangana and continue the struggle, Mr Rao demanded that the TDP should write a letter to the sub committee on Telangana, headed by External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, in support of Telangana if it wanted to prove its sincerity on the issue.
Demanding that the state government release a white paper on the Muslim Wakf properties and constitute a task force to protect the properties, the TRS Cheif said the total value of Wakf properties was Rs four lakh crore.
Alleging that Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was selling the Wakf lands to real estate companies and did not allot sufficient funds for the welfare of Muslims in 2008 Budget, he pointed out that the UPA also allocated Rs 1,000 crore for Muslim welfare out of Rs eight lakh crore Budget.
