Court to hear suspended police officers' plea on Wednesday

Mumbai, Apr 27 (UNI) A local court is likely to hear on Wednesday, the arguments on an application filed by 13 suspended police officers, demanding certified copy of the CID report, on the basis of which they were suspended for their alleged role in wrongly framing a city-based builder in a false case.

The officers were suspended by the Maharashtra government for their alleged involvement in implicating the builder, Rajendra Chaturvedi, in February last year, accusing him of hatching a conspiracy to eliminate business rival Rashmikant Shah.

Earlier, investigating officer Kumar Sawant was issued summons, directing him to appear in the court for recording of his statements.

Meanwhile, the officers have filed an application demanding certified copy of the CID report prior to recording of statement of the investigating officer.

According to the police, the dispute revolves around a redevelopment project at Abhyuday Nagar, Kalachowkie in south-central Mumbai. The plot is worth Rs 500 crore.

On a tip-off, four people -- Nisar Shaikh, Aslam Khan, Qasim Qureishi and Vijay Warkar -- were arrested on February 25 last year.
