PMK demands total ban on futures trading
Chennai, Apr 26 (UNI) Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) Founder-leader S Ramadoss today demanded a total ban on futures trading.
In a statement here, he said the Centre should bring in strict control measures against foreign players who were ''resorting to illegal stocking of essential items in the guise of futures trading.'' This was also one of the reasons for the rising prices of essential commodities, he claimed and added the Centre should prevent big players in food and pulses trade and ban futures trading.
The Tamil Nadu Government should raise its voice more louder in the NDC meeting.
In the meantime, the State Government, under the powers vested in it, should take stringent action against those illegally storing food items and smuggling them to ensure food security for the people, he demanded.
