NTPC units ready to supply power in surrounding localities: Minister
Bhagalpur, Apr 26 (UNI) Minister of State for Commerce and Energy Jairam Ramesh today said the power stations of National Thermal Power Corporation(NTPC) in Bihar would supply electricity direct to people in the area within its radius of 15 Km, if the state government granted permission for the same.
Mr Ramesh told reporters after inspecting the NTPC project at Kahalgaon said the power corporation was working in joint venture with the state government to end the power crisis in next five years. He also said two thermal power units were being established by Railways in joint venture with Bihar government at Nabinagar in Aurangabad district of the state.
''51 per cent of power generated at proposed Nabinagar thermal powere station would be going to Railways, while the rest would be available for the Bihar government'', he added.
