Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana launched in MP
Bhopal, Apr 26 (UNI) Former Bharatiya Janata Party president M Venkaiah Naidu and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today launched the Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana that envisages providing wheat at Rs 3 per kg and rice at Rs 4.50 per kg to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, subject to a maximum of 20 kg per month.
''The scheme is a boon for the public struggling against inflation. Such a scheme is required in other states as well. If the BJP comes to power at the Centre, it will bring about a constitutional amendment to implement the scheme on countrywide basis,'' said Mr Naidu.
The two leaders distributed foodgrain packets to some beneficiaries during a massive customer awareness camp at the local Lal Parade Ground.
Mr Naidu urged Madhya Pradesh's denizens to join Mr Chouhan in his April 30 fast as the latter was ''pained'' by central policies.
''The number of ration card-bearing BPL families has increased to 62 lakh from 41 lakh in this state,'' the Chief Minister said.
