4 shot dead in Azamgarh

Azamgarh, Apr 26: At least four people, including Deeha village Gram Prada Pappu Singh, were shot dead, while an attacker was beaten to death by locals, following a clash between two groups in the Jahanaganj area here today.

According to a police spokesperson, some armed assailants hurled bomb on the gram pradhan and his accomplices near Samastipur village.

Later, the accused opened firing on them, killing Pappu, his bodyguard Pintu Singh, Bittu Singh and Neeraj Singh on the spot.

One of the attackers, who was yet to be identified, was beaten to death by the locals in the violence.

Pappu's relative Arun and driver Ram Pyare sustained wounds in the clash.

Meanwhile, Police Superintendent V K Garg said the crime occurred over a personal dispute.

Investigation was on.
