Encounter between police and MCC ultras

Dumka, Apr 26 (UNI) Police and the proscribed Maoist Communist Centre (MCC) ultras were engaged in an encounter near Manjhladih village under Sikaripara police station in the early hours of today in this district of Jharkhand.

Official sources said Superintendent of Police Sido Hembram was leading the force that gheraoed the thick jungle area, where the MCC were hiding.

Unconfirmed reports suggested that some policemen were injured in the encounter but senior police officials neither denied or confirmed it.

Police on patrolling duty in the area were suddenly challenged by the ultras at around 0300 hours leading to the long-drawn gun battle, which was still continuing, the sources added.
