Emigration officials face security threat

Kochi, Apr 26: The passengers from Mumbai and the Emigration Personnel at the Kochi International Airport were confused when the passengers were brought to International Terminal side in a coach from the flight, here today.

The passengers from Mumbai arrived here in a Jet Airways flight '9W403' at 1650 hrs. The Airlines used to provide transport facility for the passengers from the flight to the terminal area in a coach.

The passengers had to be taken to domestic terminal side to leave the airport. However, the driver of the coach mistakenly took the passengers to the international terminal area.

The emigration personnel, who noticed some passengers entering the emigration zone of the international terminal from the airside, swung into action.

Later, the passengers were allowed to leave the airport after checking their boarding passes and tickets.

This was the second incident of similar nature which landed into a great controversy posing high security lapse.

Meanwhile, a few passengers left the airport through the domestic departure side without the customs and emigration clearance.

However, they were immediately traced and brought back for security proceedings.
