BJP member for probe into petition on Dayanand Saraswati's book
New Delhi, Apr 25 (UNI) A BJP member today demanded a thorough probe to expose people and organisations behind a petition seeking a ban on a 125-year-old book written by Arya Samaj founder Swami Dayanand Saraswati.
Raising the issue during zero hour in the Lok Sabha, Prof Rasa Singh Rawat said the educational principles of Swami Dayanand Saraswati were based on Vedas, which propagate reliogious and social harmony.
He said it was necessary to expose the people and organisations behind the petition filed against the publication of the book titled 'Satyarth Prakash'.
Prof Rawat said larger communal forces were behind the petition.
It was necessary to be cautious against such elements, he added.
The petition was filed by Usman Ghani and Mohammad Khalil Khan following a fatwa, which objected to two paragraphs of the book.
According to the plaintiffs, the paragraphs use ''defamatory and objectionable words regarding the Prophet Mohammad.'' The Chair, Dr Satyanarayan Jatiya, later adjourned the House till 1100 hrs on Monday.
