ATADMK to hold demo on phone tapping by DMK Govt
Chennai, Apr 26 (UNI) The Opposition AIADMK today announced that the party would organise a state-wide demonstration on April 28, demanding the resignation of DMK Government for allegedly tapping the phones of Opposition leaders and officials in the State.
Party General Secretary J Jayalalithaa, in a statement here, said when Former Karnataka Chief Minister Ramakrishna Hegde and Former US President Nixon faced a similar charge, they stepped down owning moral responsibility.
Similarly, Mr Karunanidhi, heading the DMK Government, should resign owning moral responsibility for indulging in ''anti-democratic act which infringed human rights,''she said.
To press the demand, the AIADMK would stage demonstration in all district headquarters, she said and called upon party volunteers from various wings to take part in the agitation.
Party Presidium Chairman E Madusoodanan would lead the agitation in Kancheepuram while Senior Leaders C Ponnaiyan, O Panneerselvam, K A Sengottayan and D Jayakumar would lead the agitation in Pollachi, North Chennai, South Chennai and Cuddalore, a party release here said.
