Naeem's family relieved with efforts to secure his release
Mangalore, Apr 25 (UNI) An official from the company with which the abducted Indian engineer Sarang Mohammed Naeem (39) was working today contacted his family here and assured full help to secure his release.
Naeem Mohammad Hussain, the father of the engineer, who was abducted by armed Afghan militants in the province of Herat on Monday, told UNI that the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district also visited him earlier in the day and said all efforts were being made to free him.
''This news came as a big relief to us. But we are still not out of the trauma as they do not know whether Naeem is safe. The Deputy Commissioner conveyed to us that the Indian Government is in constant touch with the Afghanistan Government for the safe release of Naeem,'' Mr Hussain said.
He said the Manager of HEB International Logistics, for which his son was working, also spoke to him.
Congress candidate Moideen Bawa visited Hussain and conveyed a message from Union Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes, explaining the steps being taken by the Government.
Sarang Naeem, an electrical engineer who had been working in Afghanistan for the last five years, had quit his job in a five-star hotel and joined the HEB International Logistics three months ago.
