Local court adjourns hearing till Apr 30 in builder's case

Mumbai, Apr 25 (UNI) A local court today adjourned till April 30, the hearing of an application filed by 13 suspended police officers, challenging their suspension for wrongly framing a builder in a false case, while demanding certified copy of CID report about their suspension.

The officers were suspended by the Maharashtra Government for their alleged involvement in implicating a city-based builder in a false case.

This is the third time that the Metropolitan Magistrate Court at Andheri has adjourned the hearing, as Magistrate is on long leave.

Earlier, the court had issued summons to Investigating Officer Kumar Sawant, directing him to appear in the court for recording his statement.

The police had allegedly registered a fabricated case against builder Rajendra Chaturvedi in February last year, accusing him of hatching a conspiracy to eliminate business rival Rashmikant Shah.

According to the police, the dispute revolved around a redevelopment project at Abhyuday Nagar, Kalachowkie in southcenral Mumbai. The plot was worth Rs 500 crore.

On the tip-off, four people -- Nisar Shaikh, Aslam Khan, Qasim Qureishi and VijayWarkar -- were arrested on February 25 last year.
