AP Govt providing scholarships to minorities on par with SC and STS

Vijayawada, Apr 25 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Government has been providing scholarships to minorities as in the case of Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) in engineering and medical courses, state minorities Minister Shabbir Ali said today.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Ali said this was based on the Sachar Committee report.

He said the previous Telugu Desam Government had earmarked only Rs four crore in the budget for scholarships to minorities.

But the Congress Government, after assuming power enhanced the budget allocation to Rs 135 crore, he alleged.
