Youth throws acid on two girls in Punjab
Ludhiana, Apr 24 (UNI) Two girls sustained burn injuries after acid was thrown at them in the Sherpur locality of the city here today, police sources said.
According to the police, the girls, Sukhminder (19) and Seeta (22) were confronted by a youth when they were returning home from the market. The youth who was carrying acid in a bottle threw it on the two girls and then ran away.
The girls were immediately taken to the civil hospital where doctors examined their burn injuries and declared that these were not of a very serious nature.
The girls in a statement to the police claimed that the youth who threw the acid had been a tenent at the house of Sukhminder's parents. He was recently asked to leave the house after Sukhminder's parents objected to the company he kept.
Police said that the youth threw the acid in order to take revenge for his forceful eviction. A case has been registered at the Focal Point police station and the police have raided a couple of places to apprehend the alleged culprit.
