SP talks on law and order after attack on party MLA
Lucknow, Apr 24 (UNI) Taking note of the poor law and order situation in the state, Uttar Pradesh principal opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) said today's attack on their party MLA Chandra Bhadar Singh and his brother at the civil court permises in Allahabad testifies the same.
Addressing mediapersons here today, SP state unit acting president Shiv Pal Singh Yadav here said ''the MLA had a miraculous escape along with his brother Monu Singh, as the criminals had hurled at least six bombs on them in the court complex.'' Two policemen and three lawyers were also wounded in the incident, he added.
Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) camp had been set up inside the court, but still the accused were at large, the SP leader said adding, ''even court complexes are no more safe in Ms Mayawati's regime.'' ''Heinous crimes are increasing day-by-day across the state...12 murders have been reported from Ghaziabad and Noida alone in the last one month. Same kind of situation prevails in UP capital Lucknow,'' Mr Yadav alleged.
No one was safe except Ms Mayawati, as some ministers of the BSP were running criminal gangs, he charged.
''It is height of Ms Mayawati's insensitive attitude that cane farmers were lathi charged for asking the clearance of their dues,'' Mr Yadav added.
UNI JAS AKJ DB2029 The Singh brothers, accused in the murder of Sant Gyaneshwar in Allahabad during 2005, were in the court permises to appear in the case from Naini central jail.
According to police sources, senior police officials have rushed to the spot along with additional forces to control the situation.
Laywers paralysed the functioning of the court after the incident and chaos surrounded the permises. The Laywers even tried to manhandle the mediapersons, while camera of some of the scribes were damaged during the protest.
After November 21, serial blasts in three civil courts of the state, this was the first time that criminals freely used bombs. In the serial blasts 13 people were killed in Faizabad, Varanasi and Lucknow civil court permises.
Meanwhile, official sources claimed that the legislator and his brother are safe and out of danger. However, Sonu received splinter injury on his face, whereas Monu suffered injury in his leg.
Sonu Singh is SP MLA from Isauli assembly seat in Sultanpur district, while his brother is a block pramukh of the district.
Allahabad district Bar Association president Vinod Chandra Dubey claimed that even after demanding proper security in the civil court permises police had failed to do so.
