Reshuffle of leaders necessary to revive party: Cong leader
Una, Apr 23 (UNI) Former Lok Sabha member and two time former legislator Thakur Ranjit Singh, who had joined the Congress party ahead of the last Assembly elections, today said the party High Command should make a massive reshuffle in the ranks and file of the state party unit to revive the party.
The party's state in-charge R K Dhawan should be replaced with somebody who can work at the grass roots level, he said, while addressing a news conference here.
Mr Singh added that during the last elections, BJP state-incharge Satya Pal Jain had reached out to the masses and to the party workers at the panchayat level to propagate the policies and programmes of the party.
Alleging that the Congress party has not been taking politics seriously after losing the Assembly elections, he said the party even failed to give a candidate against former union minister Shanta Kumar for the Rajya Sabha seat.
He said even HPCC president Viplove Thakur should be replaced with someone young and energetic like Sudhir Sharma of the Baijnath constituency to give a youthful image to the party.
The Congress leader said former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh's statement that he would not be campaigning for the Hamirpur parliamentary by-elections was also unfortunate and a step to weaken the morale of the party cadre.
