Newly-wed ''unlucky'' woman commits suicide in HP

Nahan, Apr 23 (UNI) A newly-married woman, apparently depressed over a series of unfortunate incidents in her matrimonial home soon after her marriage, committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan in Sirmaur district, police said today, According to ASP Bindu Rani Sachdeva, deceased Poonam's husband had sustained injuries in an accident, while rushing home on hearing of his father's illness within a few days after their marriage was solemnised.

Considering herself to be unlucky for her in-laws, Poonam committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan, she added.

Though no case has been registered against anyone, a case has been registered under Section 174 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and investigations were on, Ms Sachdeva said.

Poonam's body has been handed over to her relatives after post mortem examination, she added.
