NE edu ministers against Centre's move to abolish OBBT
Agartala, Apr 23 (UNI) The North Eastern Education Ministers' Committee has strongly opposed the Centre's move to abolish Operation Black Board Teachers (OBBT) under Sarva Shiksha Abhijan.
The ministers, who assembled here today to discuss the pros and cons of the Centre's decision and resolved to unitedly fight against the move.
Committee chairperson R Lalthangliana said the scrapping of the project would adversely effect the SSA programme in Northeast.
''About 3000 teachers, who are appointed under operation Black Board Teachers will go jobless creating an imbalance in the social sector,'' he said adding that education scenario in NE should be improved by pumping more funds in the sector.
Dr Lathagliana said the government must grant hill subsidy for the NE states keeping in consideration the bottlenecks in the region and funds for developing the infrastructure there.
