Bangalore, Apr 23 (UNI) Marketing as a career has taken a tier II status in India due to paucity of proper platforms and channels to encourage the profession, Mr Willis Turner, President and CEO of Sales and Marketing Executives International(SMEI), said today.
Speaking at the inaugural summit of the Indian chapter of SMEI here, he said India was making a gigantic progress in the field of technology and process implementation.
With proper guidance and improvement programmes, as those offered by SMEI, sales and marketing as a career option would receive the required boost, he said.
SMEI Indian Chapter Chairman Sudhakar Rao said the purpose of the forum was to share the different facets of sales and marketing profession. It expected to add another 5,000 members by the end of the current financial year, he said.
