Manipur remembers 1891 warriors on Khongjom Day

Imphal, Apr 23 (UNI) People at Khongjom in Manipur's Thoubal district today observed the Khongjom day to commemorate the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891 against the British empire.

Governor S S Sidhu, Chief Minister O.Ibobi Singh and other cabinet ministers laid floral tributes to the warriors at Khongjom war memorial.

The Manipur Rifles personnel gave the guard of honour to those, who gave up their lives fighting for their motherland in the battle.

'' We need to take a pledge to forget past bitterness and establish new bonds so that peace and harmony is brought in this beautiful but touble-torn state,'' the governor said.
