I became victim in Munde episode: Madhu Chavan

Mumbai, Apr 23 (UNI) After being stripped of the city chief's post, BJP MLC Madhu Chavan today said he became a victim in the Gopinath Munde episode for no fault.

On Sunday, Mr Munde had resigned from all important party posts citing his unhappiness over the appointment of Mr Chavan as party city chief. Two days after keeping the party bosses guessing, he finally withdrew his resignation.

Talking to UNI, Mr Chavan said he was democratically chosen by a three-member committee nearly six months back. He was forced to suffer for no mistake in the entire drama. Even the party admitted that he was being victimised, he said.

''I suffered mental agony because of the developments that took place in last three days,'' he said.

Mr Chavan said he met party president Rajnath Singh and Venkaiah Naidu who told him that he was not at fault in the whole episode.

''However, I will continue to work for the party, ignoring my personal interests,'' he added.

Asked whether he would accept any post offered by state BJP president Nitin Gadkari in the executive committee, he declined to comment.
