French Culture minister to visit India

New Delhi, Apr 23 (UNI) The French Minister for Culture will soon visit India to further strengthen the bilateral cooperation between the two countries in culture.

This was conveyed to Tourism Minister Ambika Soni by a delegation of Committee of Cultural Affairs of the French Senate who called on Ms Soni.

Led by Senator Jacques Legendre, the visiting delegation told the minister that a group of French architects would also visit India to study the Indian architecture in cities like Delhi.

During their 45 minutes meeting, both the sides discussed matters relating to culture and tourism sectors and how to further improve cultural relations between India and France.

Ms Soni briefed the visiting dignitaries about the on-going cultural cooperation between the two countries and recalled UNESCO's recognition to India's tangible and intangible heritage.

She said India is receiving a large number of French tourists and Embassy of India in Paris has recently reduced the visa obtaining period for French tourists coming to India.
