Puducherry, Apr 23: The Puducherry administration will take steps to issue a Government Order(GO) abolishing entrance examination for admissions to professional courses in the Union Territory, Education Minister M O H F Shajahan told the Legislative Assembly today.

Replying to a special mention from Leader of the Opposition A M H Nazeem during Zero Hour, he said he had already stated in the House that the GO would be issued on Monday.

The file pertaining to the matter was forwarded to Lt Governor Lt Col(Retd) Bhopinder Singh two days ago and was yet to be signed, he said adding that the Lt Governor was expected to reach here this evening.

Once, the file was signed, the GO would be issued, he added.

Earlier, moving a special mention, Mr Nazeem said the students and parents were in a state of confusion as to whether the entrance examination would be held or not since the government had not issued a GO so far.

DMK member S P Sivakuamar pointed out that Lt Col Bhopinder Singh, who is also Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands was not staying in Puducherry even when the session was in progress and the House should express it's regret to Lt Governor.

However, Sivakumar's demand was ignored by the Chair.
