CRPF frowns on use of RAF uniform, insignia
New Delhi, Apr 23 (UNI) The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has taken up the issue of the use of insignia and uniform similar to the Rapid Action Force (RAF) with the state armed police battalion concerned, Minister of State for Home Affairs Shakeel Ahmed said today.
In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, the minister said the CRPF had drawn attention to the use of the RAF insignia by Kolkata Police's specialised armed police wing with the Commissioner of Police, Kolkata.
It was brought to the notice that suitable changes should be made in view of the directive of the Ministry of Home Affairs dated February 14, 1997 regarding the use of name of RAF and its uniform by State Police Forces, he said.
