Airports in Gujarat to be modernised soon: Patel
Ahmedabad, Apr 23 (UNI) Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel today said all airports in Gujarat, including city's Sardar Patel International Airport (SPIA), would be modernised soon.
Speaking at the inauguration of newly-constructed domestic arrival terminal at the Ahmedabad International Airport here, Mr Patel said, ''The Civil Aviation Ministry has chalked out a plan to contruct an integrated International-Domestic terminal at the SPIA in 12 months time.'' The new domestic arrival terminal has been built at a cost of Rs 14 crore.
Mr Patel said ''In the wake of vertical rise in air-traffic in Gujarat in recent times, the state needs infrastructural facilities at all its airports.'' Gujarat needs better infrastructural facilities at its 20 airports, including five in arid Kutch region and 10 airstrips, the Minister said.
A special network would be set up for skill development of the Airport Service Sector in the state, Mr Patel added.
