Advocate M K Paul urges NHRC to save life of Sarabjit Singh

Rajkot, Apr 23 (UNI) International Human Rights Activist Advocate M K Paul has urged the National Human Right Commission (NHRC) to take up the case of Sarabjit Singh, who is on a death row in Pakistan, on top priority and save his life.

Mr Paul has sent a telegram to NHRC Chairman S Rambabu, in which he has requested Mr Rambabu to take up the matter of Sarabjit Singh, who is slated to be hanged on May 1, with the Chairman of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) at Lahore.

He has also requested Mr Rambabu to persuade the Chairman of HRCP to take this matter to the Pakistan government.

It may recalled that the case of Sarabjit Singh has already been taken up by the Centre and BJP Leader L K Advani, who has urged the Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani to take up the ''bold step'' of granting clemency to him and win the goodwill of people of India.
