336 cases registered in Maharashtra during anti-North stir
New Delhi, Apr 23 (UNI) A total of 336 cases were registered and 1,575 arrests made for substantive offences following departure of people from their workplaces in Pune and Nashik in February 2008, the Government today said.
Minister of State for Home Affairs Sriprakash Jaiswal told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply that according to the state government report, wherever any incident took place, firm action was promptly taken, cases registered and arrests made.
A case had been registered against a quarrel in the general compartment over the occupation of seats at Nagothane in Raigad district which was later transferred to GRP Thane and was under investigation.
He said a number of measures were taken by the state government to prevent such incidents and create a sense of security including deployment of state police and central para military forces in sensitive areas, mobile patrolling and setting up of temporary police chowkis at various places.
