Suspected Maoist ultras shot dead local CPI(M) leader
Birbhum, Apr 22 (UNI) Suspected Maoist ultras today shot dead a CPI(M) zonal committee member at Rajnagar area under Tantipara police station in the district.
District Superintendent of Police Lakshmi Narayan Meena said the assailants arrived on a motorbike and shot CPI(M) leader Sridam Das (58) from a close range, killing him on the spot.
Several Maoist posters were also recovered from the spot, the SP added.
The body was sent for post-mortem and an investigation launched in the incident, the SP said.
