MRTPC inquiring into allegations of cartelisation: Chidambaram
New Delhi, Apr 22 (UNI) Finance Minister P Chidambaram today said the MRTPC was inquiring allegations of cartelisation against manufacturers of cement and steel.
In a reply in the Rajya Sabha during Question hour, Mr Chidambaram admitted that government was aware of the cartelisation by producers of cement and steel and was taking several measures to deal with it, as part of its efforts to check rise in inflation.
''Many cases of manufacturers of cement and steel acting like a cartel have been seen. However, the MRTPC is conducting inquiry into such allegations,'' Mr Chidambaram said.
He said the Ministeries of steel and industry were talking to the industry in this regard.
