Rupee rises to a 3-week high at 39.85/86 per USD

Mumbai, Apr 21: Rupee today rose to a three-week high today, at 39.85/86 against US Dollar with a gain of seven paise from its last close of 39.92/92. As banks unwound long positions after RBI increased reserve requirements to fight inflation, dollar buying by oil firms capped gains, dealers said. Rupee was at 39.850/860 per dollar after hitting 39.83 in early trades, its highest since March 31. Rupee closed at 39.92/925 per dollar on Thursday as the currency market was closed on Friday for a holiday, dealers added.
