Pondy PMK seeks resolution against creamy layer concept
Puducherry, Apr 21 (UNI) The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) today demanded that the Puducherry administration debate and adopt a unanimous resolution, urging the Centre to remove the creamy layer concept from the 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in Central educational institutions.
In a release here, PMK Parliamentary Party leader Prof M Ramadass said the creamy layer was a section decided based on the income of a person, which was not accepted by the Constitution.
The creamy layer had not been utilised so far for any section of the society and if it was used in the case of the OBC, which constituted 52 per cent, it would be against the interests of the people, he added.
