Panels to monitor water supply position in AP dist

Kakinada, Apr 21 (UNI)District, division, mandal and village-level committees have been constituted to constantly monitor the water supply position and ensure no habitation faced water scarcity during canals closure in East Godavari District, Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi said.

The Committee at the district level would be headed by the Collector with SE, Rural Water Supply, as the Convenor and Zilla Parishad CEO, Superintending Engineers of Panchayat Raj, Transco and Irrigation besides the District Panchayat officer as members.

It would review water supply position in the district once a week and submit proposals to the government for tackling water scarcity problem.

The committee would conduct inspections on water supply position every week in at least seven mandals and submit reports to the Collector.

Similarly, at the division level ,the monitoring committees would be headed by the Revenue Divisional Officers concerned.

The committees would identify the villages that required water transportation and take steps for water transportation through tankers, take up repairs of bore wells and sinking of new bore wells.

The mandal-level committees would be headed by the Mandal Development Officers and at village level, the panels would be chaired by the Sarpanches.
