IIMM, Jamshedpur, hosting Materials Management Week

Jamshedpur, Apr 21 (UNI) The Jamshedpur chapter of Indian Institute of Materials Management(IIMM) is celebrating a ''Materials Management Week'' from today along with all IIMM branches all over the country.

Jamshedpur branch Chairman of IIMM K N Mishra told media persons here today that the organisaton, founded in 1975, has been celebrating its foundation day on April 23 every year.

Mr Mishra said IIMM also conducted week-long programmes for the deveopment of supply chain management and logistic, contributing positively for building a stong ecomomy of the nation.

''IIMM, which has 37 branches and 19 chapters all over India, arranged regualar lecture meetings, national and international seminars, workshop and educational activites from time to time to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of supply management professional,'' he said.

Mr Mishra said the IIMM had taken new initiaitives like social audits for nearly 50 companies, including Tata Steel.

Vice president of IIMM (eastern region) Bimal Ghosh said the organisation had enterned into an international tie-up with International Federation of Puurchasing and Supply Management, Atlanta, USA. It also associated with the Institute of Supply Management, USA and International Trade Centre, Geneva, Mr Ghosh said.
