HP to launch 'Anemia Free Himachal' Campaign
Shimla, Apr 21 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today said his government would soon launch 'Anemia Free Himachal' campaign to eradicate anemia from the state.
Addressing the mediapersons here, the Chief Minister said, "Anemia, the deficiency of blood in body, has been detected as the main cause of various ailments. The state government would carry out a survey to identify the people suffering from anemia and bring them under the campaign." "The modalities are being chalked out to start the survey work so that it would be carried out as a campaign in the entire state and factual position could be obtained so that remedial measures are adopted to treat the people suffering from anemia," he said.
Stressing on the increasing popularity of ayurvedic treatment, Mr Dhumal said "People from all over the world are showing interest towards the safe ayurvedic system of treatment and a large number of foreigners are visiting the country to take benefits of the ancient system of medicine".
The Chief Minister said during his earlier term (1998-2003), the number of ayurvedic health institutions had increased from 964 to 1118 and budget had increased from Rs 26.68 crore besides 1,525 professionals were recruited in different capacities to strengthen the ayurvedic system of medicine in the state.
"Another 85 ayurvedic doctors would be recruited very soon to further strengthen the health infrastructure in the state", he said and added that a provision of Rs 87.77 crore had been made for promotion of ayurvedic during current financial year.
