Gangster turned MLA Gawli held in extortion case

Mumbai, Apr 21: Akhil Bharatiya Sena member of the Maharashtra Assembly, Arun Gawli was today arrested and remanded to police custody till May 2 by a local court in connection with a Rs 25 lakh extortion case.

Mr Gawli was arrested this morning by crime branch sleuths in the case, in which his brother Vijay and his other associate had been arrested earlier. Police claimed that Gawli, a gangster-turned politician, was the mastermind in the Rs 25 lakh extortion case involving a builder.
