EC bans use of SMS in poll campaign in K'taka
Shimoga, Apr 21 (UNI) The Election Commission of India has banned the use of SMS in poll campaigns for the next month's Karnataka Assembly elections.
Addressing a press conference here today, Shimoga Deputy Commissioner T K Anilkumar said if such illegal SMSs were send by any contesting candidate or party activist then the expenses incurred for sending the messages would be included in the candidate's poll expenditure.
He appealed to the people to bring to the notice of the authorities if they receive such messages, seeking votes, on their mobiles.
The VIPs, who come for election campaign in their respective constituencies, should vacate the place after the scheduled time.
