CRPF constable kills colleagues, commits suicide
Jammu, Apr 21 (UNI) A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable allegedly shot dead his two colleagues including an Inspector, before committing suicide at Vaishno Devi shrine, some 55 km from here in Katra town of Reasi district in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources today said.
Sources said a CRPF constable opened fire on his colleagues and later shot himself at Vaishno Devi shrine.
''On duty constable identified as Veerinder Singh, opened fire with his service weapon after they entered into a verbal dual resulting into critical injuries to his senior officer Inspector Sanoop and colleague Parveen Kumar, of 140 Bn,'' sources said.
''The constable was on duty at a post situated few metres away from the Bhawan enroute Bhairon Ghati,'' Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Udhampur-Reasi Range Alok Puri told UNI asserting, ''he opened fire in which his colleagues were seriously wounded and later shot himself with the weapon and died on the spot. ''CRPF has ordered a probe into the incident,'' the DIG said.
However, the critically injured CRPF personnel died while they were being shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu, he said.
The reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained, sources said.
