Congress to release its second list next week
Bangalore, Apr 21 (UNI) After finding it an uphill task in finalising the first list of 89 candidates for the first phase of elections scheduled for May 10, the AICC has decided to release its second list for the second and third phase of Karnataka Assembly poll, only in next week.
Sources at the Congress Central Committee on Election told UNI that it would meet again on April 26 and finalise the list for the remaining 155 seats.
The Committee, which had finalised the first list was forced to effect last minute changes owing to pressure accommodated cine actor turned politician Jaggesh (Koratagere). The names of former Ministers V Somanna (Govindaraja Nagar), H M Revanna (Hebbal). Ms Renuka Rajendran (Chicknayakanahalli), former Bangalore Mayor P R Ramesh (Chickpet) and Krishnappa (Vijayanagar) were also included.
It may be recalled that Congress had reviewed its own first list of nominees following protests from partymen who failed to get party ticket in Mandya, Mysore, Tumkur, Hassan and Bangalore Urban districts. KPCC Secretary and Cine actor Jaggesh, whose name was missing in the first list cleared by the CCE had lodged a strong protest and threatened to contest from Turuvekere as independent candidate.
