Composite index of metals, energy down by 2,817.95 pts

Mumbai, Apr 21 (UNI) The composite index of metals and energy was down by 2,817.95 points at the Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) here today.

Silver contract for September 2008 fell by 1.34 per cent at Rs 23,451 per kg, while its contract for Nov 08 rose by 0.88 pc at Rs 24,199 per kg.

While copper, zinc, lead, aluminium and nickel contracts lost, tin contracts remained unchanged. Lead May 08 contract fell by 1.26 pc at Rs 113.90 per kg.

Chana, refsoyoil, cardamom, sugarsklp and mentha oil receded.

Refined soyoil June 08 contract slid by 3.34 pc at Rs 550.15 per 10 kg. Chana July 08 contract shed 2.90 pc at Rs 2,581 per quintal. While turmeric June 08 and rubber June 08 contracts were up by 2.99 pc at Rs 3,345 per quintal and 1.84 pc at Rs 11,170 per quintal, respectively.

Turmeric June 08 contract topped the list of gainers, rising by 2.99 pc at Rs 3,345 per quintal. While, refined soyoil June 08 contract was the main loser, declining by 3.34 pc at Rs 550.15 per 10 kg, an MCX release said.
