Yatra to focus on next gen economic reforms: Naidu

Tirupati, Apr 20 (UNI) Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu today said his 150-day 'Meekosam Yatra' beginning at Rayalapuram in Chandragiri, near here, tomorrow would focus on third generation economic reforms on taking benefits to all sections of people.

Addressing mediapersons here, he said the economic reforms so far were successful only in parts helping the rich become richer. This needed to change.

During the yatra, the Party would expose the 'misdeeds' of the government and highlight 'rampant' corruption and 'price rise.' Alleging the Congress government in Andhra Pradesh implemented Rs two kg rice scheme on one side and increased the collections from liquor sales, he said the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) increased due to hike in taxes.

The loan waiver announced by the government only benefited the defaulters, he alleged and claimed the Congress dispensation completely killed democratic institutions.

Nearly 125 TDP workers, including a MLA, was killed and attacks on press increased during the four-year-Congress rule, he claimed.

Later, Mr Naidu proceeded to Tirumala Hills, the abode of lord Venkateswara, where he will stay overnight and offer prayers in the morning before the start of the crucial party campaign at his native place.
