Two killed , six hurt in fire at chemical godown

Kanpur, Apr 20: Two people were burnt alive and six others received severe burn injuries when a major fire broke out in a chemical godown in Panki area here, late last night, fire service sources said today.

According to fire officer A P Singh while one person died on the spot, an other labourer succumbed to the injuries on way to hospital. Condition of three injured is stated to be critical .

Mr Singh said the fire broke out in a tank of the chemical godown and later spread out in the area.

''Sixteen fire tenders, ten of UP fire service and six of various defence establishments, put down the flames after five hours,'' he said.

The cause of the fire was being investigated.
