Report on cash seizure sent to CEO: Official

Mysore, Apr 20 (UNI) District Election Officer (DEO) P Manivannan today said he had sent a report to the Karnataka state Chief Electoral Officer on the seizure of a vehicle and Rs five lakh cash allegedly belonging to BJP candidate and former MLA A Ramadas contesting from Krishnaraja constituency in the city.

Speaking to newspersons here, Mr Manivannan said notices had already been issued to Mr Ramadas, demanding an explanation. A detailed report was sent to the CEO and further investigations were on.

He said one more case was filed against Mr Ramadas for taking a huge procession while filing nomination papers yesterday. A report had been sought from the Police Commissioner in this regard.

According to the Model Code of conduct, only 120 people were allowed to take part in the procession while filing nominations.

Meanwhile, Nanjangud Sectoral Magistrate Basavaraj seized 63 boxes of liquor worth Rs one lakh from a goods autorickshaw at Nanjangud Suttur Road.

Mr Manivannan said all 14 Central poll observers will be arriving here tomorrow to supervise the entire election process.
