Biman appeals to people to frustrate tomorrow's 'Bangla bandh'

Kolkata, Apr 20 (UNI) Left Front Chairman Biman Bose today appealed to the people of the state to frustrate tomorrow's 12-hour 'Bangla Bandh', called by the Trinamool Congress in protest against price hike.

In a statement here, Mr Bose, also the CPI(M) State Secretary, alleged that the Opposition were determined on shattering the prevailing peace in the state by calling such bandhs.

He termed the bandh as the bandh of some opportunist forces and said the strike was called to scuttle the coming Panchayat election.

Mr Bose averred that the bandh would only encourage the pernicious forces in the state and appealed the people not to be swayed by the Opposition instigation.

He also urged the administration to play a responsible role tomorrow to maintain a peaceful atmosphere.
